The Bootcamp Experience

The first job I had, I was selling and harvesting firewood in the Northwoods.

Every job was seasonal. After the firewood season, I was harvesting balsam boughs and selling them for 18 cents per pound to a local wreath warehouse. One day, my truck caught fire, and the road under my truck caught fire, and everything was terrible. It was raining and I was miles from the nearest town.

I got a job at the wreath warehouse directly after that, putting together wreathes, paid by quota, 50 cents per wreath.

Years later, after a string of low paying jobs, I’m in a bootcamp. I never did get a degree.

The ultimate goal is to get to a place in life in which I can survive. Same as it ever was.
