It’s that time again.
What did I learn this week.
The answer is nothing. I’m busy with my multiple job searches, and I’m beat down. There is no amount of technical training that will make a significant difference for people that don’t have money. You can’t change my mind. I rely almost entirely on luck and luck alone. Almost.
Another rando on Linkedin sent me a connection request and I accepted because the connection count is looked at by recruiters, or so I’m told.
I see lots of posts from members of my bootcamp cohort talking about their experiences with technical interviews. I haven’t gotten a call back. My profile is looked at by recruiters but then ignored, and none of my outreach messages receive replies. This isn’t surprising. I’m not from wealth, and I have no status symbols, no degrees. Not like the rest of the cohort.
It’s also possible they overstate themselves, because often they’re talking about how they’re caught off guard. So they say they’re experts and when they get asked basic questions they’re stumped. I guess if you tell some students that they have ‘impostor syndrome,’ they start to believe they’re experts.
I’m tired and I have five more random messages to send out to people, to fulfill my contract.
